Improved Safety

A new Safety Scotch Locking System for De-Hacking machinery has been designed by Craven Fawcett engineers to enable maintenance work to be undertaken in a safe manner. Installed at Ibstock Dorket Head, on a non-Craven Fawcett De-Hacker, Engineering Manager Kevin Tomlinson commented, “The Safety Scotch Lock has dramatically reduced the risk of potential accidents”.

The Craven Fawcett Safety Scotch Lock is a mechanical locking system, which uses rollers and a hydraulic cylinder to lift the De-Hacker Head off the chains. Cams then lock into position to carry the weight of the Head, preventing it from falling. The permanent lock makes it safe to undertake the required maintenance work.

The Safety Scotch Lock can be further adapted to allow installation onto any CF or non-CF Setting Machine
